Meet the Providers

FAMILY MEDICINE

The RootMD clinic is led by Doctor Lon, a Board-Certified Family Physician (through the NBPAS). After growing up in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon, Dr. Lon attended Gonzaga for his undergraduate studies (Go ZAGS!) and obtained his Medical Degree from USC. He spent a year as a Head and Neck Surgical intern, then went on to complete Family Medicine residency at UC San Diego. Afterwards, he worked for 5 years as a Primary Care Provider at Scripps Clinic, San Diego's premier health care organization.

However, the insurance-based system limited him from providing the comprehensive, prevention-first care that he believes patients deserve. To achieve this he started RootMD, a Direct Primary Care clinic, where the doctor-patient relationship is paramount. This enables patients to make their own medically informed decisions. Dr Lon is particularly interested in longevity, health-span maximization and caring for people who have been told “there’s nothing wrong with you”.

Dr. Lon started this endeavor in his wife's home state of Florida, and, with two young children, is finally living near family! He calls Indialantic his home, and when not in the office, you'll find Dr. Lon with his feet in the ocean, or his hands in the soil of his garden.

Ashley, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

As a Brevard native, Ashley Seguna is dedicated to caring for the community that helped raise her by providing compassionate, whole-person care that is aimed at optimizing health, longevity, and overall wellbeing. Ashley is thrilled to join RootMD and looks forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your wellness journey.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Florida State University, Ashley began her healthcare career as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit. While caring for the sickest patients, she witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of chronic disease that even state-of-the-art, life saving treatments could not reverse. This experience shaped her understanding that many “acute” illnesses do not develop overnight and are actually due to a lifetime of health and lifestyle patterns. Driven by the desire to work upstream in healthcare and prevent chronic disease, Ashley pursued her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Central Florida. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, her goal is to provide health care that is oriented to identifying and addressing the root cause of illness - not only to prevent disease, but to extend healthspan with vitality, resilience, and quality of life.

Ashley brings experience in lifestyle medicine through her role in leading a private primary care practice in Brevard County. She is also dedicated to training the next generation of healthcare professionals and serves as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Central Florida. Her clinical interests include women’s health, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, mental health, and natural and lifestyle-based therapies. She is especially excited to care for children of all ages and help families establish healthy habits to set the stage for a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.

Outside of the clinic Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and goldendoodle, Christian and Nani, staying active, reading, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
