FAQs

You might have some questions. We hope this page will help you find answers. If not, feel free to send us a message using our contact page.

  • We are NOT health insurance. We are a medical clinic, which utilizes a direct pay (the patient pays the doctor) cost structure which allows us to spend more time, with fewer patients, and tailor our treatment plans to the patient’s needs, not an insurance’s bottom line.

We are primarily focused on health optimization and prevention of illness, but also provide care for members when they get sick. There are no co-pays or deductibles at our office, just a flat, low monthly membership fee, which ensures you have access to your physician.

  • If you just have an acute illness, and maybe can’t get in to see your regular doctor, then Pay When You Need may be the right option for you. However, you’ll likely find that it’s so easy to get a hold of us, schedule an appointment, that your time with the doctor is so productive, relaxed and that you actually get to ask all the questions you have, that you won’t want to go back to your insurance-based physician.

In that case, Membership is for you. As the practice grows, we may have to end our Pay When You Need Us option in order to focus on care and availability for our subscribing members. However, notifications will be sent to Pay When You Need patients before that time to allow them time to become members if desired.

  • Yes, board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.

  • If it’s a medical emergency, please call 911 first.

For non-medical emergencies, a phone call (321-723-7353) or using the patient portal to either message or self-schedule an appointment is best, especially during office hours.

  • Fax is typically the best option (321-503-3131) or you can bring in what records you have to your appointment.

We have a Release of Medical Records form that you can complete (electronically) which we can send to any providers who have records that need to be transferred.

  • If you can never get in to see your doctor when you need them, RootMD is for you.

If your doctor always seems rushed, RootMD is for you.

If you’ve seen multiple doctors and either been brushed off, or told “there’s nothing wrong with you” over and over again, RootMD is for you.

If you want to feel truly healthy, RootMD is for you.

If you’re sick of feeling judged for your medical decisions, RootMD is for you.

If you want access to effective, functional health care for less than the cost of your monthly pool and lawn service, or your daily coffee and pastry, RootMD is for you.

  • Due to the high variability in cost of prescriptions, imaging and lab testing, we are not able to include these in Membership. All in-clinic ultrasounds are considered part of the physical examination, and therefore are not charged extra. We do have very low-cost options for prescription drugs, for both one-time and every day prescriptions, which can be dispensed from the clinic.

We’re happy to check and see if getting a medication through insurance or a pharmacy is cheaper for you, if it’s best to go through us, you’ll pay what we pay. Imaging and labs are often both easier and cheaper to do via direct pay transactions as well. This way you always know what you’re going to pay up front, so you don’t get any surprise bills. We can help you determine if using your insurance is better, or if paying directly makes sense.

  • We do NOT have a sign-up or cancellation fee. We know life changes, and want you to have the freedom to cancel for whatever reason.

However, we do have a contract term of 1 year. So cancelling before the end of the year means you are violating the contract, so your cost gets converted to that of a non-member for all services rendered. This means, if you cancel after just 1 month, but saw us for a 3 consultation visits, at the time of cancellation you would be billed for the balance at the non-member rates for those visits. This is simply to deter people from signing up, getting a ton of care packed in a short time, and then cancelling.
